AGRIBEX 2025: a decisive edition that confirms the transformation of the agricultural sector
AGRIBEX 2025 is positioning itself more than ever as a driving force for the transformation of agriculture. Both visitors and the 260 exhibitors are enthusiastic about an edition that was characterized by a dynamic atmosphere, high-quality discussions, and a strong concentration of innovations. Visitor numbers fell slightly, mainly due to lower attendance by schools and partly due to the absence of livestock competitions. The number of professional visitors remained more or less stable, with good growth during the professional day. The satisfaction of the exhibitors is reflected in the figures: a quarter of the stand spaces have already been officially rebooked for the next edition, which underlines their commitment and confidence in the fair. (The rebooking period runs until December 15, 2025). Strong political support confirms AGRIBEX's strategic position The joint presence of the Ministers of Agriculture of Flanders and Wallonia, the Prime Minister, the Dutch Minister of Agriculture, and a representative of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Agriculture sent a powerful message: "The future of agriculture is a strategic priority, and AGRIBEX is the reference platform for this." This involvement reinforces the legitimacy of the fair as a place for dialogue, decision-making, and shaping the agricultural policy of tomorrow. In his speech during the official opening, Prime Minister Bart De Wever emphasized the importance of technological innovations for agriculture and for the economy as a whole: "The technology on display at trade fairs such as Agribex has not only advanced agriculture, but also our entire economy."
Women as the driving force behind innovation in the sector
Ladies' Day also proved its great added value. The inspiring, authentic, and powerful testimonials of female agricultural entrepreneurs emphasized the creativity, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit of women who are helping to build the future of the sector every day. This widely acclaimed initiative underscores that modern, innovative, and sustainable agriculture is also supported by the determined efforts of women. With this day, Agribex also officially kicked off the election of the Agribex Agro-Lady of the Year.
Our exhibitors gave free rein to their creativity and surprised our female visitors with some very nice gifts. A heartwarming initiative that is close to our hearts was also set up for the benefit of Pink Ribbon. And because such a wonderful project deserves extra support, Fedagrim, the federation behind Agribex, also contributed an extra €1,000 to Pink Ribbon.
Agriculture in full technological evolution
The 2025 edition confirmed the strong rise of precision agriculture, robotics, and automation. The many innovations presented, often award-winning and widely discussed, illustrate a fundamental shift within the sector. Autonomous robots, intelligent sensors, connected technologies, and data-driven applications demonstrate that agriculture is evolving towards more sustainable, efficient, and regenerative models that respond to climatic, economic, and social challenges. "This edition confirms that the modernization and professionalization of the sector are no longer a vision of the future, but a reality," emphasizes Agribex chairman Tim Aerts. Livestock farming remains ambitious in times of sustainability, even without livestock price campaigns
Even without the Brussels Livestock Show, the livestock sector continues to have a strong presence at Agribex. Suppliers are remarkably enthusiastic, while farmers—partly due to legislation, but mainly out of their own conviction—are actively looking for nitrogen-reducing solutions that both help them meet standards and strengthen the profitability of their businesses. The absence of the livestock auctions is certainly felt: for 72 editions, they were a mainstay of the fair. "The livestock auctions are simply part of our DNA," says Alain Vander Cruys, Event Coordinator at Fedagrim. "We will continue to work to get them back on the agenda." Agribex is aimed at cattle farmers, who turned out in large numbers to discover the many exciting innovations on offer. Clearly well prepared, there was great demand for inspiring solutions, and there was also a clear appetite for investment.
The silent revolution: batteries conquer green maintenance
Electrification is omnipresent at Agribex. Professional mowers, hand tools, and utility transport have switched en masse to batteries. Thanks to more powerful and safer batteries supplemented with fast chargers, a full working day is almost achievable. Quieter and emission-free machines make working in residential areas and care and urban environments easier. At the same time, they increase user comfort and social acceptance of green maintenance.
In addition, electric machines are increasingly being integrated into smart work processes, with planning, use, and maintenance being monitored digitally for maximum efficiency. The next meeting with municipal authorities and landscaping contractors has already been scheduled. The next green demo will take place at the Puyenbroeck Provincial Domain from June 7 to 9 in Wachtebeke. Agribex delivers on its promise once again: 'Inspire & Connect'
Dealers presented inspiring machines and innovative concepts that clearly responded to the needs of the sector and attracted a lot of interest from visitors. The interaction at the stands was intense and focused, with strong connections between visitors, dealers, and manufacturers. The general atmosphere was decidedly positive and commercially promising. Several dealers are therefore convinced that this strong interest will translate into concrete purchases in the short term.
Thanks to the unique combination of technological innovation, political support, entrepreneurial spirit, and the valorization of skills—with a special focus on women—AGRIBEX 2025 confirms more than ever its role as a key player in the Belgian and European agricultural sector.
This edition also marked the departure of Michel Christiaens as secretary-general of Fedagrim, the organizer of AGRIBEX. He headed the organization for 25 years and helped put AGRIBEX firmly on track. His successor, Isabelle Huyghe, will officially take over as CEO of Fedagrim on February 1.
